Designed, constructed, and operated by CRBC, the SGR spans a total length of 592 kilometers, covering both the Mombasa–Nairobi section, inaugurated on May 31, 2017, and phase I of the Nariobi-Malaba Railway opened on October 16, 2019. The SGR is a modern railway built entirely to Chinese standards, utilizing Chinese technology, management practices, and equipment.
